In this webcast for the CFA Institute, money manager and financial advisor Patrick O’Shaughnessy and I discuss generational differences among investors and how technology is changing the financial landscape. Although I’m generally not a big believer that people a few years apart in age behave very differently from each other, there certainly is evidence that major events (like, say, two epic market crashes in the same decade) can exert similar forces on the behavior of millions of people. Patrick and I found a lot to agree on — especially that how you use technology can either help you or kill you as an investor.
